Singapore, day two

Got up, had a breakfast under swords and shields and made my way to Raffles Station. Did I mention that Singapore is very clean? Just a thought that struck me in the subway. And the subway isn’t only clean, it’s also suicidal save. Every station is a closed unit with doors in the glas walls that only open when the train stops on the other side and opens its doors.

Today I decided to take a look at the colonial left overs. And of course the town symbol, the merlion. Well, all very nice but nothing spectacular. Although it is charming to see that old an new get along together so well somehow the city, as fare as I got to know it, lacks character. But it’s very clean.

Since I didn’t made it to those little shopping alleys in chinatown yesterday, I gave it another try. Do you remember the restored old buildings with the new, fency shops? Well, its all very touristical and trendy. And its definately not cheap. At least the things I was interested in. Tried to find some bargain but I had the impression that it was either crap or a rip off. Felt rebelish and took a chewing gum.

Headed back for Orchard Road to a small internet cafe and checked out a place where I could get a crumpler bag. Was lucky, the shop was in a mall just around the corner. Finally got my bag and it was 50 Euro cheaper then at home.

Back home to queen and cockroach.
