Packed and unpacked all my stuff again. Somehow it fits better now but still...
I hope the regulations aren’t that strict at Virgin Blue.
Scratched my hand on the cars door packing everthing in the car. Had to put on a tape to avoid blood stains everywhere.
Just a little side note but keep it in mind.
Fetching the phone I forgot the other night in the car I realized a lot of unanswered calls from Owen. Got back to him and he told me that they are actually heading for Freo where Emmas graduation was about to happen. We met at the car park for a quick hello and goodby befor they had to leave for the celebration.
My plans where spending the day at the WA Aquarium north of Perth. Driving there along the shores I saw lots of surfers despite the fact that it had only around 16 degrees and the water was just slightly warmer. But what else can you do in a country with such a poor internt connection ;o)
One of the outstanding features at the aquarium was the 98m long underwater tunnel made of acryl glas. And above you 3 million litre of sea water filled with fishes, stingrays, turtles and sharks. And a small plate that says: “Did you know that you actually can snorkel and dive with the sharks?”
Fourty minutes, some signatures and an instruction later I felt like a sausage pressed in a wetsuit. There where three of us on the sharks menue and our plan was to look as yummy as possible so that the sharks couldn’t make up their mind which one to bite.
Well the first round in the tank was like watching TV and not really realizing all the stuff that goes on around. The second one had more impact on me. Came really close to some sharks definately bigger than me.
I think I will never forget the feeling drifting torwards a shark and gliding just a meter over him. You don’t want to loose him out of sight just in case he turns around and thinks about taking a bite.
Although sharks where a huge amount of the entertainment there where also those big stingrays and the two big turtles.
We spend about 45 minute in the tank and somewhen during that time i remembered my little scretch. Even though i was quit shure it stopped bleeding a long time ago the the whole thing became a new meaning.
With every round we took in there I became more and more aware of the presence of those perfect killing machines and in the end it was really a relief to hop off the plate.
Out of the water I got a sticker saying something like “sharksnorkler” and a coffee and a cake later I got a call from Owen. They where still in Freo waiting for the ferry to Rotnest Island and if I want to catch up. So i drove down to Freo again to have a beer with them and afterwards gave them a lift to the ferry.
Again got myself a pie to suck up the beer and drove to the airport.
The bag had 25 kg and I really have no idea how that happend...
