Perth / Kalgoorlie-Boulder

Had an early breakfast, mad a short stop to upload the blog and went on my way to Kalgoorlie.
Well, what can I say about those 590 kilometers? I had the idea to leaf civilisation and comfort behind and travel into the heart of Australia. Me and my adventures imagination ;o)

Speed limits are from 60km/h to 110km/h depending on urban or nonbuilt-up areas. The highway that connects Perth with Kalgoorlie is the state highway 94. And most of the time there is this water pipline visible from the highway. It carries water from an reservoir near Perth to Kalgoorlie (”Kal” to the locals). A water pipeline with the length of 556km build in 5 years around 1900. And to my surprise it’s sometimes so close to the highway that a car accident could be an major hazard to the pipeline.

It took me 9 hours to cover the distance with about 7 hours of driving and 2 hours for serveral short stops. I tried to take pictures roughly ever 50km hoping the landscape would change dramatically which it prefered not to do.
During dawn I slowed down tue to the risk of crossing local wildlife which means mostly kangaroos. Didn’t see any of them, at least no living ones.

Arrived in Kal around 1800 and to pay for my luxurious sin from last night I checked in at an backpackers.
