Beaches of Experance

Today was the time for showing me around Esperance.
We went in Angies car and headed north to Pink Lake. Not as pink as it used to be, but hey, we can fix that in the post.
A green alga, that develops a red carotenoid pigment at high temperatures and light gives the pink shade. Take notes, because i will ask you that after my return ;o)
After pinky we had a look at the wind farm which predecessor was Australias first wind farm.

And then we went for the beaches around Esperance. The sea had a really big swell leading to enormous waves. Tilo went really nervous seeing all those waves and not having his surf board with him. I tried to take pictures but without something as a reference you can’t really tell how huge this waves where. And I just couldn’t persuade Tilo to jump in without his board.
I guess most of them must have had 5-7m and a few even reaching 10m and above.
We have been to “Eleven Mile Beach”, “Observatory Breach” ( the place where the ships Recherche and the L’Esperance found shelter from a storm 1792 and since they where there anyway the founded the town), “Twilight Cove”, “Blue Haven”, “Dolphin Beach”, “Salmone Beach” and “West Beach”. And looking out to the sea you could see many islands of the Recherche Archipelago. Absolutely understandable why they teach surfing at school around here.

After some pies for lunch I had a lazy afternoon planing the next days and packing. And in the evening we had a little barbeque and on the plate was: Kangaroo!
Really dark meat that tasts delicous and very rich, a little like beef and liver. I think about taking along some spices and a grill for the next road kill.

Again, Tilo, Angie, Emma, Owen, thanks for having me with you, for showing me around and giving me shelter and some moments to remember!
