Brisbane / Goldcoast

Today we went to Walkabout Creek, a little park with animals that are common in the Brisbane area.
But all the other annimals where not as interesting as the platibus (Schnabeltier). I remember hearing about it in school it was by far the most interesting and funniest animal.

First Sonika and I brought Jack to school (where he learns all about the animals here in australia and gives his parents lessons about the spotted animals) and then we went on with Zoe to the Creek.

But befor we came to the tank with the platypus we saw a wombat.
I was told be by Tilo to run over any animal i see on the street (out of safety reasons you don’t break) exept the wombat because it usually survives the accident better then your car.  In fact this little animal looks very compact and Zoe told us that a dingo would loose teeth when biting a wombat in the bottom.
Then there where some wallabies and two or three of them even had little joeys looking out of their pouch.

And finally, the platybus!
Which was asleep.
In his cave which was at the farest end of the the tank.
But it was only ten minutes to ten and there was feeding time for the platy every full hour. So after a five minutes or so he came out to paddle around in his tank, get back on his platform in front of his cave to give himself a propper scratch and then he dived and digged out some food with his beak.
Unfortunately it was only a platypus in captivity but to see on out in the wild I would need more time.

Then Sonika gave me a lift to the train station because I had some of my stuff backed up in the trunk to go to the Gold Coast.
Surfers Paradise.
Just doing nothing at the beach for a few days befor i have to go back to rainy Austria.

Transport to the Gold Coast was a breeze and at around 2pm I was at my hotel room. I was happy to find out that the place was close to the entertainment area of Surfers. So I browsed a little around just to check out the surrounding. Lots and lots of shops and bars and nightclubs and a few shopping centers.
And one of the biggest Game Halls I have ever seen. Airhockey, shooting, racing, minigolf, flippers and a vast selection of other games.
Now, I once knew somebody who would have had a really good time.

And finally the beach. Fine white sand, very clean and veeery long. But unfortunately, at half past three in the afternoon the huge hotels are drawing their shadows across the sand. Add some wind and voila, Surfers Paradise becomes Australiens Winter Paradise. (facts: 13˚low and 21˚ high)

Ok, for the rest of the day it will be writing blogs and postcards.
And I found a place where they have bikini mud wrestling tonight....

Oh, btw. pedestrian traffic lights go tsüüööööötsch -taca- taca- taca- taca ...... like in NZ!
